I ordered this as a gift to be sent to my niece for her birthday. I was very embarrassed when her mother called me to say it only made "smoke" and no ice cream! The ingredients were wasted and she had to return the gift to Amazon. She had difficulty with the return and so I sent her cash to buy my niece something else. It has been 2 weeks and I still have not received a credit from Amazon and will never send a gift through them again. Meanwhile, this particular model of ice cream maker definitely has a design flaw.

A great Ice cream maker that is easy to use and makes very good ice cream. The directions are easy to follow and very easy to improvise on and make your own home made creations.

For the price of this device, it serves up an easy to use plastic canister and locking lid/motor.

Pros:
>Easy to use. Clear instructions.
>Inexpensive initial purchase and upkeep
>Can make large batches of your own ice cream (I made hazelnut flavor ice cream for my first batch! No one else sells that)

Cons:
>Heavy whipping cream tends to get expensive, so it ends up either costing a bit more than store-bought ice cream, or breaking even on the price per batch.
>Loud motor. This is not really unexpected as the ice cream thickens, causing more strain on the motor.

Overall, it was a good purchase for my family, as we love to make fun flavors and more of all sherbets and sorbets out of natural fruit juices (Mango puree sorbet is delightful!). This is really a party favorite that can serve many for friends or family. I love it and feel that the price was worth it.
